About
Welcome to Cecilia’s Kitchen, a delightful culinary treasure tucked away at 870 Merrimon Ave in Asheville, NC. As a food reviewer for Foodjoyy, I’m excited to introduce you to this charming restaurant that has quickly become a beloved local spot.
Cecilia’s Kitchen has gained a reputation for its warm, inviting atmosphere paired with exceptional service. Customers rave about the friendly wait staff, who enhance the dining experience by taking your order at the table—not just at the counter. Cathy Nielson hits the nail on the head when she notes, "The food is delicious. Tamales are the best!" This sentiment resonates throughout the dining community, highlighting the authenticity and flavor of the menu.
One of the standout items, the tamales, has been a much-discussed delight among patrons. Amanda Fortner recalls, "This is the first authentic tamale I have had since I lived in Florida," pointing to the restaurant's commitment to genuine flavors and culinary excellence. For those craving both quick service and quality, Cecilia’s delivers on all fronts—even on busy days like Black Friday!
Not just a haven for tamale lovers, Cecilia’s Kitchen also shines in its diversity of offerings. Lockie Hunter, a loyal customer, praises the mushroom crepe and French onion soup, claiming they are must-tries. The crepes, which are gluten-free and celebrated for their creative fillings, do occasionally experience slight inconsistencies, as Lockie mentions. However, the majority of visits promise fantastic dishes that leave diners eager to return.
The atmosphere at Cecilia’s Kitchen is equally commendable. With both indoor and outdoor seating options, it serves as an excellent brunch spot, as noted by Brian Lobo. The vibe is relaxed yet sophisticated, making it perfect for any occasion—whether a casual meal or a celebratory gathering.
In conclusion, Cecilia’s Kitchen embodies the essence of community dining with its flavorful dishes and attentive service. The enchanting combination of traditional recipes, local ingredients, and the passion of its staff creates a unique dining experience worthy of exploration. So, next time you're in Asheville, consider stopping by for a taste of their fantastic offerings—you won't be disappointed!
“ So pleasant! It's nice to have wait staff take our order versus ordering at the counter. The food is delicious. Tamales are the best! Overall a civilized dining experience with great food. ”
“ Came in on a busy black Friday. We needed a quick stop while our laundry was at the mat. The food came out very quickly. This is the first authentic tamale I have had since I lived in Florida. The server was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu items...and she actually SMILED and seemed happy to have our business. Meg was very nice!!!! ”
“ We love Cecilia’s. We have been coming since they opened, and prior to that, we had been frequenting their food truck. We were really hoping for something fabulous to come into the spot they now occupy, since it is so close to our home, and we were very happy to see Cecelia‘s not only arrive, but hoist a tent and be able to have outdoor dining to survive Covid. We have had many of the items on the menu, and especially love the mushroom crepe, the French onion soup, and the tamales. We were there the other day, and really had a beautiful meal. See photos. My only complaint is that sometimes when we go, the food is excellent, and sometimes when we go, the crepes don’t have as much stuffing. So it’s a little inconsistent. I love to take friends here, and tell them the crepes are wonderful, and bonus that they are gluten-free, and then sometimes the stuffing will not be particularly filling, and it’s a bit disappointing. But I’d say eight times out of 10, the food quality is excellent. Certainly a favorite lunch place of ours. My only suggestion would be to watch consistency, and make sure those crepes are full and lovely, with lots of stuffing! Today’s visit was excellent! P.s. Don’t skip out on the French onion soup. It really is beautifully done! UPDATE: Had the Popeye and it had a lot of good spinach! ”
“ The crepes both savory and desert were fantastic! The tamales especially with the cilantro sauce were great! The atmosphere was great. Meg was helpful with advice and gave excellent service! ”
“ Lovely restaurant for brunch with very efficient service and several delicious options. The atmosphere was great and there is outdoor seating as well. Plus they source with locally grown organic ingredients. You can get a variety of items for brunch ranging from soups, crepes, empanadas, tamales, benedicts, etc. They also have a wonderful list of sweet crepes. ”
“ Love Cecilia's! The music. The natural light. The food tastes delicious and a menu that makes me want to come back and try more! Quality food and real table service I don't mind tipping appropriately. Drink and food prices are a very good value ”
“ The place looks a little deserted from the outside, but it is a cute place to hang out! Staff were very friendly and helpful. The tamales and the empanadas were delicious! (Highly recommend the tamales) the smoked salmon crepe was VERY cheesy, a bit too much for me. Otherwise I really enjoyed it! ”
“ Had the French onion soup and the Popeye buckwheat crepe. The flavors in both were excellent. Marked a star down because both had too much cheese in proportion to other ingredients. (This had not been the case at the B l ack mountain location). But in the future, because the food is delicious I will simply request less! ”
